When you are in Dallas you must acknowledge the fact that it is full of Texan fun, food, and history. Dallas is one of the most visited places to go in Texas and rightfully so. As you drive around in your Dallas rental car while visiting, the one thing that you must do is go out for BBQ. BBQ in Dallas is like McDonalds’ burger joints. They are literally on every corner, so why not go stuff yourself for old time sakes? You may want a smoke after that huge meal but your auto cigarette lighter may not work. What do you do?

If you want to smoke a cigarette and don’t have a lighter you may be out of luck. Rental car companies on occasion will purposely turn off the lighter in order to keep people from smoking inside of the car. This could be due to complaints from customers of “cigarette” smell that stays deep inside of the car, or even the fact that the company may not want to clean ashes off of the floor. Whatever their reasons are this can effect your ability to smoke, or even using car compatible devices by using the lighter socket.

There is a work-around to this problem however. You can go on the Internet and search for videos and information on exactly how to enable the auto cigarette lighter. The only problem is that if the rental company indicates that you have tampered with it you may get slapped with a tampering fee or they may restrict you from ever doing business with them. Your best option would be to ask the car rental company to supply you with a vehicle that allows you to use the lighter function or purchase a rental from another agency.
