Although I don’t necessarily live in the same city as many of my friends from the past, that doesn’t mean that we have grown apart. Maybe it’s because we are guys, but for one reason or another, even if we go long periods of time without talking, the second we get a chance to get in touch with each other (or even better, get a chance to actually see each other), it seems like we are always able to pick up right where we left off without missing a beat.
To give you an example of what I am talking about, let’s discuss my recent trip to Dallas. I was down in Dallas for a couple of days on a business trip, and once I arrived, I decided to give one of my old buddies a call. As soon as I told him I was in town, he got really excited and insisted we go to dinner together. Like always, as soon as we both got to dinner, it was just like we were back in the good ole’ days. I would have considered my trip a success just with that dinner, but my buddy wouldn’t settle for that, and whenever I wasn’t working during my trip, he found plenty of fun things to occupy my time!
